Last Saturday, our annual fundraiser for EDSS was held at Fort Edmonton Park. We would like to extend a giant thank you to our partners, trades, and staff for raising $52,910 for the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society! The annual event has raised $892,850 to date for this great cause!
These contributions will help the EDSS continue to support individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. With early supports that enhance their visual strengths from birth, most people born with DS will understand by watching, listening and reading and express themselves fully with facial expressions, gestures, pictures, print and spoken words. With early, continuous intervention children born with DS often read early, understand complex concepts and communicate verbally. Costs for speech and literacy programs are high. The proceeds from this event will help the EDSS share the costs with their members as well as support the newly announced EDSS Joey Moss Centre for Literacy.
